David Allen – The Power of I AM – Part 7

David Allen - The Power of I AM

The I AM has its being in heaven; its home is in the realm of perfect ideals, the Christ within, but it has its freedom. It loves to be. To be is to enjoy. To enjoy is for the time to be that which we enjoy. When you are absorbed in the recital of an interesting story, you are lost to all else. The I AM is for the moment identified with that which it enjoys. Here is the solution of a great mystery . . how the I AM ever came to separate itself from its sphere of wisdom.

What is the lost word, the secret Name of God in you? I AM. This is the great secret of the so called lost word. This is the philosopher’s stone of the alchemists, and it is really the secret lying behind all religious and all philosophies.

Chapter 8 of the Book of John . .  and John reports the highest teaching of Jesus . . gives a good deal of insight concerning the cosmic nature of the I AM. Jesus was teaching in the temple, in the part called the treasury, and he began to speak to the crowd, saying, “I AM the light of the world. He that followeth me [my teaching] shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” The Pharisees immediately took exception, claiming he was bearing false testimony of himself. Jesus patiently explained that he was not speaking of his own mind but as he was inspired by the Father. But they would have none of it. As Jesus himself said, there are none so blind as those who will not see.

I AM is expressed through I will; it is the business of I AM to know when the I will activities are ideally true. In its right relation in Being, I AM never possesses or owns anything. All things in the universe are its to use, but it must not claim them as personal property.

Do you go out to see a man with a reputation, or run after a book that is said to contain the key? When you realize that the I AM within you is the KEY to every person, place, and thing, you will begin to unlock the treasures of your own kingdom. You will then be able to release the hidden springs of inspiration in a book or within your soul, and see the new life fill everything.

If you have been accustomed to feeling prejudices and dislikes easily, you will not all at once find it easy to illustrate your assertion, “I AM love.” If you have indulged yourself in thoughts of disease, the old aches and pains will intrude even while you say “I AM health!”

I, as a spiritual being, AM a temple of the living Creator. There are three courts to my temple: the outer court, which is my conscious mind, the middle court, which is the subconscious, and the inner court, the superconscious, the holy of holies. When I affirm, I AM love for all humanity;

or:

I  consecrate  my  life  to  the  healing  of  humanity, or any other statement of truth , I AM endeavoring to bring the potentiality of my superconscious mind out into expression in my conscious life. By the constant repetition of affirmations of goodwill, and the persistent practice of unselfish living, I AM gradually unfolding the beauty that is hidden within, and making it an actuality in this world.

Spiritual man is I AM; manifest man is I Will. I AM is the Lord God of Scripture; and I Will the Adam. It is the I AM man that forms and breathes into the I Will man the “breath of life.” When we are in the realm of the ideal we are I AM; when we are expressing those ideals in thought and act we are I Will. When the I Will gets so absorbed in its realm of expression that it loses sight of the ideal, and centers all its attention upon the manifest, it is Adam listening to the serpent, and hiding from the Lord God. This breaks the connection between Spirit and manifestation, and man loses that consciousness of harmony which is his under Divine Law. Then to keep up manifestation, there is a drawing upon the reserve forces of the organism, or tree of life; and the real source of supply being cut off, man is figuratively described as driven out of the Garden of Eden, or Paradise of Being.

By the constant repetition of affirmations of goodwill, and the persistent practice of unselfish living, I AM gradually unfolding the beauty that is hidden within, and making it an actuality in this world.

I AM superior to all negative thoughts and influences. As I AM joyous and radiant with creative thoughts, I attract the radiant life.

You will become aware that there is something greater and nobler and more enduring in you than in all this splendid display of creative activity spread before your eyes. You will feel it true that the intelligence in you which can say I AM and I WILL is like that Great I AM, that Omnipotent Will, which governs the universe. Henceforth life will have a new meaning to you. You will begin to grow in the power of individuality. The Great I AM is the unceasing affirmation and expression of Infinite Love, Wisdom and Power.
